Description

Movies in the Square, sponsored by the Washington County Public Library, features “The Great Wall” Friday, May 26. Films begin at 9 p.m., in the square in downtown Glade Spring. The event is free; viewers are encouraged to bring a blanket or portable chair to set up next to the library in downtown.

“The Great Wall” starts Matt Damon, Tian Jin and Willem Dafoe. “European mercenaries searching for black powder become embroiled in the defense of the Great Wall of China against a horde of monstrous creatures,” is how IMDB.com describes the film. It is rated PG-13.

Other movies in the series include “Moana,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them,” “Fences,” “A Monster Calls,” “Rogue One” and “Arrival.”

Movies in the Square began after focus groups indicated the desire for a movie theater in the town of Glade Spring. The series provides a place to go, free entertainment and encourages people to see the development in downtown Glade Spring.

For more information about the library, visit www.wcpl.net or call 276-676-6222. The Glade Spring branch library is located at 305 N. Glade St., Glade Spring, Va.
