The Community Center of Abingdon will host evening contra dances throughout the summer. A live caller and band will be on hand for added fun. All ages and levels are welcome. Dances will be held from 7-10pm on Saturday May 13, June 10 and 24, July 8, August 12 and 26. A free beginners lesson will take place at 6:30 on respective dates. In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the United States entering the First World War (1914-1918) on April 6, 1917, the Reece Museum, in partnership with the Museum at Mountain Home on the VA campus, features artifacts from this historic and also devastating conflict.
