We know that most of today's society have or have...

We know that most of today's society have or have had a lack of contentment. It seems that mankind starves to have more , more, and more even after the fact that God says enough is enough. When you are content you are satisfied. Come join us tomorrow in worship as Tom continues his sermon series on the “FOUR C’S OF CHRISTIANITY. His focus will be on "CONTENTMENT" and will be taken from 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-11.
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness."
The love of money is the root of all evil, causing some to depart from the faith, piercing themselves through with many sorrows. The desire for money will deceive and ultimately destroy you. Paul outlines a three step process: (1) The desire for money; (2) The deception of money; (3) The destruction caused by money. The desire draws you in; the deception gets you comfortable and oblivious to the danger; the destruction polishes you off.
In our lives we are to find our riches in a life with God. We are to be transformed more and more into the image of Christ. It is a daily event. It takes a great deal of discipline. Our wealth will ultimately come out of our relationship with God. When we have that intimacy, then we would not trade that for all the money in the world, because intimacy and communion with God is priceless. That is why the greatest comment that can be made to us is the one Jesus will tell us when we join Him in heaven, "Well done good and faithful servant."
Come join us tomorrow at First Christian Church! Invite someone to come with you.

Book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin ~~ Music by Matthew Sklar Lyrics by Chad Beguelin ~~ Based upon the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum ~~ A hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa’s bag and is taken back to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities force him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help remember the true meaning of Christmas. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.~~ Director's Notes The Elf-man Chronicles of Buddy, at Christmas. ~~ Christ·mas \"(‘krisməs)~~ noun ~~ 1.the annual Christian festival celebrating Christ's birth, held‪ on December 25in the Western Church.~~ exclamation ~~ 2. expressing dismay, despair, or surprise.~~ For our hero, BUDDY, the Elf, Christmas 2018 is going be unlike any other he’s had before. This one will be full of surprises . And as surprises often go, some will be great... and others, a little less great. In a matter of minutes, he will discover that his happy and syrup-filled life with Santa Claus has been based on a FIB! Buddy is not an ELF at all, but rather, j ust a human! And his real father works in publishing! whatever that is! So, Buddy embarks on a journey of self discovery, as only Buddy can.We can all identify with his search, full of longing for areal family. To feel the warm embrace of his father, to drink hot cocoa with his stepmom, and to snuggle with his newfound brother. From the snowy drifts of the North Pole to the bustling streets of New York City,Buddy swerves in and out of danger, bringing everyone he meets a proverbial gumdrop full of cheer.~~ And what about us, as we watch this musical from our comfortable seats? Are we capable of Buddy’s good cheer in the face of despair? Can we turn shock and dismay into joy and laughter with our own good nature and a few bars of Jingle Bells?~~ It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzied month of December, all the parties and shopping, the wrapping paper and ribbons. Let’s pause to reflect on the sparklejollyjingletwinkle y-ness of this wonderful life. Let’s learn from Buddy’s discovery. Let’s be inspired by this overgrown Elf-Man. Let’s cruise down Main Street, singing along with our own father, mother, kids, and grandkids. Let’s put our own innate and surprising abundance of sparklejollyjinkgletwinkl ey into this Christmas. And make everyone around us feel as good as a cup full of maple syrup and a ginger snap.
