Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigating a theft, arrest a man on drug charges.
According to Washington County Va. Sheriff Fred Newman, Senior Deputy Seth Sparks was investigating a theft incident at the Deluxe Inn Apartment 39 when he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment. Senior Deputy Sparks inquired about the smell of marijuana. The suspect indicated that he had flushed that joint down the toilet but still had a joint above his ear. The suspect was searched and a container found in his pocket contained two bags containing approximately 1/2 ounce of methamphetamine, four bags containing marijuana, two suboxone strips and a piece of a suboxone pill.
Nathaniel Todd Mays, age 32, of 14101 Brynwood Drive, Bristol, VA, was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule I or II with intent to distribute, felony possession of schedule I or II, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule III. Mays was transported to the Abingdon facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority where he is being held without bond.
