The Colt Python is one of the most well-known revolvers in the world. It was designed in 1955 by Colt as a premium .357 magnum revolver to compete with designs from Smith and Wesson. Hand fitted and produced in a way that would harken back to the craftsmanship of Colt’s early days, some have gone as far as to describe it as the finest revolver ever produced. The Python was made in numerous barrel lengths and came in several different finishes, including nickel and blued. Seen here is a 6-inch variant, which was used as both a target and duty gun. #revolver #colt #firearms #fromthecollection #cfm #museumstagram #history #museum
