Gospel choirs from churches throughout the area will gather at the Reynolds Homestead Community Enrichment Center in Critz, VA on Sunday, February 12, starting at 3:00 p.m. Bishop Burgie Penn will lead the annual gospel celebration marking its 28th year of commemoration of Black History Month. This traditional event spotlights the wealth of talented gospel singing in the community. Music will be provided by the RC Gospels Singers, Christian View Choir, New Dynamic Voices of Praise, and Mary Jo and Charlie (from The True Life Travelers). In addition, Bishop Penn’s nephew, DeShawn Carroll, from South Carolina will be featured on saxophone. The public is invited to attend the event, which is part of the American Music Series of concerts paying tribute to traditional music of the Appalachian region. Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to arrive early in order to get a seat.
