A traffic stop for an equipment violation has resulted in charges being placed against a Washington County, VA man.
According to Washington County Sheriff, Fred Newman, Master Deputy Isaac Roberts was observing traffic at the intersection of Enterprise Road and Lee Highway on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at approximately 5:15 pm when he observed a vehicle turn onto Enterprise Road from Lee Highway, missing the driver’s side headlight assembly. A traffic stop was initiated and during Master Deputy Roberts contact with the occupants inside the vehicle he immediately detected the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle recovered eight sandwich baggies containing a green leafy substance (approximate one pound), that field tested positive for marijuana. Also seized from the stop was $1,140.00 cash.
Mackenzie J. Perdue, age 24, of 28455 Lee Highway, Meadowview, VA, has been arrested and charged with Felony Possession with the intent to sell or distribute marijuana. Perdue is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail on a $1,500 secure bond. A court hearing has been set in the Washington County General District Court for February 5, 2018
Petitions are pending against a 17 year old male unnamed juvenile who was a passenger in the vehicle.
