On January 9, 2018, the Washington County VA Sheriff’s Office was recognized for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day by First Bank & Trust Company Operation Center, at 18528 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA.
According to Washington County Sheriff, Fred Newman, the agency was contacted by First Bank & Trust Company wanting to show their support for law enforcement and the job that they do.
The Sheriff’s Office was greeted by the employees of First Bank & Trust that were all dressed in “blue” to show their support for law enforcement. Mr. William (Bill) Hayter, President/CEO of First Bank & Trust Company presented the Sheriff’s Office with a check in the amount of $1,000. The Sheriff’s Office will be donating this money to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
“The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is very appreciative of the support that First Bank & Trust has shown to our Sheriff’s Office on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day”, stated Sheriff Newman. “We are honored to be able to take this very generous donation and give it to such a worthwhile organization as St. Jude Children’s Hospital.”
