HMA member Marcy Salyers is offering a special one-day COA class at the Higher Ed Center: Making Paper Beads Jewelry, on Monday, April 23, 10 a.m. Making paper beads is a traditional craft that goes back, in England at least, as far as the Victorian age. The women of the house would gather to make beads from scraps of wallpaper that were rolled on knitting needles. They would then polish the beads with beeswax and string them on long pieces of yarn. The long strands of beads then became room dividers for their homes.
The practice was then revived in the 1920s and 30s for jewelry making. Please join Marcy in learning this revised skill. There is no extra fee and all supplies/equipment will be provided to make the jewelry.
